“For Unto Us a Child Is Born” (from Handel’s Messiah) - Sir Andrew Davis and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra

I didn’t mention this on Tumblr, but Saturday I went to a Messiah sing-along at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA. The soloists were from the LA Master’s Choir. About 2,000 people in attendance…most of them singing the chorus pieces, myself included - which was, interesting at certain parts! (Goal for next year: learn how to sing and read music better, haha.)

Singing the Hallelujah chorus with so many people…just floored me. We ended up singing it three times.

After the concert, in the lobby, people were singing Christmas carols too, so we joined in. Singing Silent Night, Joy to the World, and O Come All Ye Faithful…in public, with strangers, in Los Angeles!

It was incredibly beautiful, and I will be doing it every Christmas I possibly can.

Aaron, I’m so jealous! I HAVE to make it to one of those sing-alongs one of these years…perhaps when I finally move back?

I’m so glad to hear that everyone was enjoying themselves and singing the chorus parts. While I love hearing polished choirs sing choral music, I’m totally into the concept of a sing-along. Don’t think you sing well? Who cares — enjoy yourself and sing anyways!

On a side note: Totally had to sightread this piece for a church performance two years ago. It was interesting to say the least!
